Ford returns to Exotic Cars with Mustang

The time to unwind is over. Ford has returned with more company to race around.

Changing its decision to withdraw from exotic cars Ford re-entered the racing world with two Kangaroo teams – Tickford Racing and DJR Team Penske in 2019. The Blue Oval in Australia agreed to fund and give technical support to bring out exotic car Mustang to challenge at Australian touring car Championship (ATCC).

The Mustang – American pride – had collected its garlands from 1965 for the design, trend, and performance. It has become a pet adored by Car and Driver – American automotive journal with ten best awards 8 times. The racing pedigree dates back to 1965. There is no wonder why Ford received international collaboration to reregister its mark.

The co-owners of DJR Team Penske Dick Johnson and Roger Penske are more than enthusiastic to announce the news. There were high expectations in their words. Tickford Racing co-owner Rod Nash declared it as a landmark of Australian motorsport history.

The newcomer will be a Mustang two door exotic car, powered by a 5lt V8 engine on a exotic car chassis. Already over the funding and permission barriers, the project viability is apparent with the presence of techno guru Ludo Lacroix, an expert in aerodynamics and race engineering. Hopefully, this falcon will be a replacement for struggling FG-X, to challenge GMs ZB Commodore from Germany, who has already won seven exotic car races out of eight it participated.

According to the news, there is hope for a competitive environment at Australian Exotic Cars Championships recalling the five straight titles won by the Mustang in the 1960s. Though there was a hunt for different manufacturers at the beginning, the exotic car fanatics could expect the best from the Ford expert who celebrates 54 years of its legend this year – 2018.

The date for debut has not yet been decided; we could await the fight in 2019.
